Cloud Hosting Cloud hosting is an advanced technology launched in Web-hosting world. File or applications you cloud hosting server is immediately and automatically integrated with clustered processing, load-balancing, and redundant storage. Once you upload an application or files on cloud server, it’s set to scale across an entire fleet of computers.Cloud hosting is fully redundant-with 100% uptime. Multiple web servers are running together, sharing resources to produce one big “super server” - this is in essence “the cloud”. Cloud servers network are setup in a different way , cloud server hosting methods are totally different than shared hosting, VPS hosting or even dedicated server hosting.

The resources that are available to for websites hosted on the cloud servers are also very different than normal hosting environments, a database driven website can have more than 100,000 visitors online at once without the site failing or overloading. Because load balancing architecture of the cloud allocates more resources to a website as it needs them - it’s a truely scalable hosting platform.

Virtuozzo Virtuozzo:: Virtuozzo is one of the most popular and leading VPS control panels. Virtuozzo is developed by Swsoft, this powerful software allows people to handle their VPS?s exactly like dedicated servers. It has many inbuilt features through that you could do just about anything. Swsoft uses a unique technology different then others. It allows users to use “Burstable RAM”. “Burstable RAM” is a technology supported by swsoft. This ability makes Virtuozzo very flexible.

Vmware Vmware:: Vmware is another leading VPS control panel in the web sector. It provides exactly same features provided by Virtuozzo, only “Burstable RAM” technology is not supported on Vmware. However it supports technology called “Multi-OS”. “Multi-OS” in other terms means, “Multi-Based Operating System”. With the help of Vmware you can easily install more than one operating system working on the same server. This is Muti-OS technology helps companies to reduce costs by not having to purchase different server for different operating systems.

Xen Xen:: Xen virtualization software is still underdevelopment. However it is very popular and many companies have already adopted this VPS control panel because of it’s great efficiency in limiting the amount of system resources used.Generally a VPS control panels utilze high resources when running on a server. But as Xen uses different technique of resource management it has the same features provided by Virtuozzo except “Burstable RAM” technology and yet does not consume as much resources. As it is still under development so there are a few bugs that need to be addressed and improvements that need to be made.

Before configuring VPN on Windows VPS you will need to contact you hosting provider and ask them to enable RRAS (Routing and Remote Access) in Windows 2003. Once it is enabled you can easily configure VPN by following the steps given below:-

First login to your Windows VPS and after that run the below command

1) START >>> RUN >>> Type ‘services.msc’

2) Now select the RRAS from the services list.
* Once you select RRAS go to its Properties.
* Before applying the changes switch the start-up type to Automatic.
* If everything is done correctly an option “Start this service” will get displayed .

3) Click on Start button, go to settings, go to Control Panel and click on Automatic Updates. After that right click on the computer then select the option Configure and Enable Remote and Routing Access. For proceeding with the setup you will need to stop the firewall.

4) Now click on Configuration Wizard, and configure the settings given below:-
* Click Next>>>From the configuration list select Custom Configuration and hit Next>>>Select VPN Access and NAT and Basic Firewall Option, hit Next>>>Click on Finish tab. This would end the wizard.

5)
Once you configure the above settings then check if the PPTP and L2TP VPN access in the firewall is enabled, this should be enabled with Private Routing Capability.

6)You will need to route the private traffic to the public interface, by configuring the user’s VPS this can be easily done.

Note: For configuring the VPS you will have to condier any one of the following :-

a) With the use of Microsoft Loobac Adapter you can use NAT (Network Address Translation)
Or
b) 2 Network Interfaces to route to each other.

*The above option(a) needs to be worked on as most of the users might not find VPS Hosting with 2 network interfaces.

7) Now to Configure NAT on your VPS follow the below steps:
* Go to Routing and Remote Access panel
* Expand computer name (Local)
* Expand IP Routing
* Now right Click on NAT/Basic Firewall
* To add the network translation use New Interface .

8) The ‘Internal’ Interface must be added first. This ‘Internal’ interface is used for private network access with default settings. On the second attempt add the main adapter to the NAT list and press Select.

9) Now you have to select the ‘Public Interface Connected to This Interface’ option.

10) Once you make changes enable NAT on this Interface.

11) The Address translation must be working on the network by now. The Private requests should now be translated and users can use this VPN as the Internet Gateway.

Note:
You have to select the Dial-In permission after the New user is added from properties incase the user wants to allow permission to users to use VPN.

Linux or Windows Private Hosting?

The most important thing you will need to decide is which OS(operating Sytem)you will need like Windows (NT, 2000 or XP) or Unix (Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc.).

Both OS have their own advantages, so the first thing you should think about when making this decision is if you are looking for stability, or ease of use. UNIX based servers are generally superior in the site up-time and stability areas than Windows systems. However, while they need to be rebooted more often, Windows servers are generally easier to administer and use.
Many beginners to web hosting will be confused over the pros and cons of the different operating systems. While, Unix is more stable and secure it uses a command line interface for administration. This interface, which is like the original MS-DOS interface, can be difficult to understand to a website newbie. Also, in order to keep a UNIX machine stable, one must update the kernel and software regularly, a process which is more difficult than Windows. This however, can be made just as easy to do if your web host has good administration software.
Another most impotant thing to consider is when you are choosing an operating system to use is whether you will be using scripting. If so what kind? For example, if you will be using a dynamic site, and decide that you want to go Perl as your language of choice then UNIX should be your operating system of choice. This is also true for languages such as PHP, and Python. On the other hand, if you choose to go for an ASP based site then you should choose Windows. However, to complicate the matter further some UNIX systems can run ASP scripts, although the quality of the script execution can be lesser.
You must keep in mind that if you choose a Windows-based web server you will need to update the software with patches from Microsoft’s web site almost weekly to prevent your website from being exploited. UNIX administrators will only have to do so monthly or so as UNIX is more secure by nature, and needs fewer patches and software updates.Unix operating systems are generally preferred operating system, however, in the end, if you do everything correctly, a UNIX hosted web site and a Windows hosted web site will function equally, and both should make you happy. Be sure to keep operating costs and maintained in mind when making your decision and you won’t regret it.

Hosting a large business website

There are numerous reasons for choosing a right webhosting package which can be beneficial for your business. The major thing is that, if you don’t purchase a package that offers you all the things you need to run a business online, then you won’t be able to attract and retain a faithful client base. For example, one way an online business can benefit from the right web host pack is through the use of domain names. Some webhosting providers offer free domain names and for the blossoming online business, the right name is often very important.

You must always remember that domain names must be unique - no 2 websites can have the same name. If you have an idea for a great name for your domain and that name has not already been taken, you can register your name even before you are ready to set up your website. This process is called “parking” the domain name and it ensures that the name will be available when you are ready to start your website. Many web hosting providers include domain names as part of the web host pack. Taking advantage of such an offer is one way an online business can benefit from the right web host package.

Security is another feature offered by web hosting companies and another example of how an online business can benefit from the right webhosting package. In today’s world, computer hackers, viruses and worms are simply a matter of fact. If an online business cannot assure customers that it’s safe to enter personal information on the company’s website, there’s likely to be few people who are willing to take the chance. Especially when it comes to financial information - credit card numbers and bank account information - security is vital. People who routinely shop online are usually careful to note the privacy policies and security systems in place before they order. While providing your own security is feasible, having a web host package that includes a solid security system will help ensure that your company information and your clients’ information is secure. After all, how hard would it be to regain trust if you had a major security breach?

Finding a reliable webhosting provider that has a package tailored to your needs is very important. While it’s probably going to be easy to find a company that offers web hosting that exceeds your current needs, it might not be feasible for you to take on that extra expense (especially during the business’s infancy). For example, you might need only a single e-mail account, but with a large amount of disk space. The web host packages with enough disk space also have unlimited e-mail accounts. If you can find a company that will tailor a plan to your needs, that company might discount the monthly fee as long as you don’t need additional e-mail accounts. If you do find a plan like this, remember to allow yourself room to grow in the future. Looking for tailored plans is just another way an online business can benefit from the right web host pack.

Functions of Web server

First and foremost thing you must note is that that this is a two-sided story. Web servers are responsible for storing and exchanging information with other machines/servers. So because of this, at least 2 participants are required for each exchange of information: a client, which requests the information, and a server, which stores it. Each side also requires a piece of software to negotiate the exchange of data; in the case of the client, a browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer is used. On the server side, however, things are not very simple. There is a myriad of software options available, but they all have a similar task: to negotiate data transfers between clients and servers via HTTP(HyperText Transfer Protocol), the communications protocol of the Web. What type of server software you are able to run depends on the Operating System installed on the server. For example, Microsoft Internet Information Server is a popular choice for Windows NT, while many Linux fans choose Apache Web server.

How do I Create my own Web site?

Filed Under VPS Web hosting service | Leave a Comment

After you have selected the type of Web Hosting you needs, the further step is to create your Web pages. This can be done in many ways but the most common way is by using an HTML editor. Popular softwares for creating this pages include Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe Pagemill, and dreamweaver. With the help of these softwares you can easily design and develop Web pages without learning HTML. However, you will find that at least a little knowledge of HTML will help you tremendously. Some Web Hosting provider offer clients software to create their Web pages via the Web browser like Rv site builder etc. This is nice for beginners because they don’t have to purchase additional software and they don’t have to upload their files to their account since the pages are created there. If this appeals to you, be sure to ask any potential WebHosting provider if they offer this feature.
